on the dining table

A table runner from Fabindia, a basket for fruits and some flowers (artificial here - need to find someone for fresh flower supplies near our home) in the 'pithalai padi'.

AM1: hey, guess what ? they are filming a Die-hard sequel.
AM2: yeah, have been following it on CNN all the while...

AM1: 'Die hard - Mumbai-meri-jaan' seems like an apt title!
AM2: hmmm

AM1: did u see NSG have come to help/rescue, but they don't even have a map of the hotel neither do they know the total no. of rooms
AM2: acho acho! i am looking forward to vishnu's 10th avatar :)

AM1: am looking forward to a Hitler!
AM2: why so ?

AM1: vishnu usually forgives, we need someone strict like Hitler who can punish!
AM2: hey, vishnu has killed many a bad ones during each of his avatars!

AM1: But, Vishnu takes time, he only kills one at a time... like in tamil movies villians come only one after another to get beaten by the hero.
AM2: that's so true!

AM1: tell u, these guys don't deserve a Vishnu.
AM2: why ?

AM1: Let Vishnu be the good God doing only good Godly things at his own pace, we can let Hitler handle these guys and do the dirty job!

World Peace...

I can only recollect a gist of what i wrote way back in 2005 for a mag just after the 7/7 attacks while in London,

"
Leave alone the funny aspects of accent, life and weather in the UK - its a country that has umpteen facts to boast about. The history, heritage, the land of the Romans, the land of Hadrian Wall, the land of a living Monarch, the land of the Lady! Its tourism and the serene country side, truly worth a visit once in a lifetime. To this no-nonsense ever business minded public the 7/7 incidents sent a jitter through their spines with the public transport being heavily disrupted. But there was no stopping and each one carried on like any other day. Just when we were out of this fear, came the depressing news of the monsoon havoc in Mumbai. As we turned pages on the 1000s of affected families in India, came Katrina which swirled away 100s and 1000s in New Orleans. Wind, Water and Fire definitely is more powerful than terrorism. Why doesn't a clone of Katrina just wipe off and uproot terrorism, rather than affecting and annoying the innocent crowd around the world.

WORLD PEACE !!
- not being a Ms. Congeniality contestant but as yet another empathetic kindhearted soul.
"

I will just have to re-phrase it for the sake of Mumbai-meri-jaan now. But whats the point ? I can only pray - "sarve jana sukhino bhavanthu"!

a new beginning...

Many a times i have attempted to start and most importantly continue blogging! I guess i have terribly failed, but now, after having moved into our new house, started a new blog and hopefully will try to scribble in a line or 2 every day! that's my oath! ;-)

I have loads and loads of info/stories to write/share about our house-setting-up experience. In tamil, a saying goes, "kalyanam panni paar, veettai katti paar" we learnt it the hard way with our builders - "the-good-for-nothing-sobha developers". Will try to post some pictures of our new home with some home decor tips too.
The pic above is one of our foyer decors - lady with a lamp in the mud pot - which is usually filled with water and flowers in any home, but with Adit around i could only fill it with pebbles and an artificial lotus.

A wooden panel (from Cottage Industries) with Ganesha, Gajalakshmi and Saraswathi is seen as the front door opens. By the side of the door, a mirror (from Auroville) reflets the panel.A bronze Ganesha on the foyer's beam. Not to miss out some potpourri on our +size shoe stand ;-)
